Room 13 St Mary’s Derry

Main Studio Artform: Visual Arts

Room 13 St Mary’s is the first Room 13 to open in Northern Ireland.

The idea was planted in June 2012 when Rob Fairley was invited to visit the school, following a presentation he gave at a conference organised by Culture City to in preparation for Derry City of Culture 2013.

Caroline Gilliland volunteered her time as visiting artist to help get Room 13 St Mary’s Derry up and running. A group of girls in 1st and 2nd year formed a management team and the studio officially opened in October 2012.

Since then, the team have been working to develop their studio enterprise to generate the funds they will need in order to realise their creative ideas!
