Paintings from the young artists at Room 13 HCMC were on show as well as some works from international artists discussing issues concerning children’s rights all over the world.

The exhibition took place at the same time in other participating countries such as; Germany, South Africa, Argentina and Rwanda.

In Nepal the exhibition was inaugurated by chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Mr. Kiran Manandhar. Around 70 visitors including artists, school students, representatives of related organizations and media people visited the one day exhibition.

Global Enterprise

Room 13 Mallaig have learned to make these fantastic bags made from used plastic. The technique was picked up by their artist in residence who spent some time working with Room 13 Shikshayatan last year. This is an excellent example of studios sharing techniques across the globe to make some products that they can either exhibit or sell, once the
Mallaig artists have mastered the technique there might be some available to buy right here on the Room13 International website.

Dangerous Ideas

Room 13 will be presenting at the Emporium of Dangerous Ideas, in Edinburgh’s Merchant’s Hall. Our dangerous idea comes from the present generation of artists at Room 13 Caol, and is simply that everyone should have a Room 13! We imagine a whole world of people who are prepared to think and act for themselves, as the movement of young artists that we recognise as Room 13 spreads around the world.

This is Our Faith

Artists of Room 13 Lochyside created an installation for a service in St Columbus Cathedral. The piece consisted of nine crosses cut and sanded by hand, painted and finished with gold leaf and stencilled with words relating to the faith. These were unveiled yesterday in a service at St Columbus Cathedral in Oban cathedral to mark the launch of ‘This is Our Faith’, the new syllabus for Catholic religious education in Scotland.
